Modified on Sat, 02 Sep 2023 at 05:00 AM

There is a minimum age for children who wish to swim at Love Open Water venues.

The current child swimming policy for our venues:

  • Child must be 8 years and over to swim at Chattern Hill Orchard - The Haven, Nottingham and Milton Keynes
  • Child must be 10 years and over to swim at London Royal Docks, Canary Wharf and Leeds Dock
  • Water temperature must be over 14 degrees
  • Each child must be registered with NOWCA - there is an option to add children to an adult account
  • Have experience in open water / competent swimmer
  • Swim with an experienced OWS adult also registered with NOWCA
  • Wear a tow float
  • Adult & child must swim together

* Once a child turns 16, they are considered an adult in terms of swimming at Love Open Water venues.

* All members should be competent swimmers and able to swim 400m in a pool without stopping (general open water swimming as well as coaching courses)  FURTHER INFORMATION FOR COACHING

* Ultimate discretion is with the onsite staff as to the competency of members and whether they can swim unassisted
