Do you offer coaching courses at LOW venues?

Modified on Thu, 11 Jan at 10:37 PM

Coaching courses (group) and private coaching sessions are available at some of our Love Open Water venues.

Coaching information can be found on our website https://loveopenwater.co.uk/coaching-courses/

Group courses are available to book directly on ACTiO - search for your venue and courses are listed under Available Activities

If you would like 1-2-1 / 2-2-1 / private group coaching, please submit an enquiry form so that we can get in touch to discuss your needs.

Coaching for Juniors

Once a child turns 16, they are considered an adult in terms of swimming at Love Open Water venues.

Booking

All children must have their own personal NOWCA child account (set up by parent or guardian) and wear their wristband on site and in the water. Children can NOT swim using a parent or carers NOWCA membership as every wristband is specific to that person’s individual information.

Child accounts can be added by the adult in the ACTiO app. CLICK FOR INSTRUCTIONS

Competency

Children must be able to swim 400m unaided and without stopping.  An exemption may apply at sites that offer a safe paddling area where the depth allows the child to stand unaided (Nottingham only)

Water temperature requirements

Children will not be allowed to swim in water which is below 14 degrees Celsius, regardless of ability or experience

Equipment requirements

All children must wear a tow float when swimming at Love Open Water venues.

All children must wear a brightly coloured swim cap.

It is recommended that children wear a well-fitting wetsuit and goggles.

Adult supervision

All children must be accompanied at the venue where they are receiving coaching. One adult per child.

During coached sessions, operated by a Love Open Water coach (such as Junior Squad session), a parent/guardian will not be required to swim with the child providing the child has been assessed as competent to swim 400m unaccompanied.  This only applies if the child is receiving coaching from a Love Open Water Coach (not for general swimming - see Child Swimming Policy)

Ultimate discretion is with onsite staff/coach as to the competency of the swimmer and whether they can swim without an accompanying adult.
