VENUE UPDATE:
We know many of you have been waiting to hear from us.
Since February, a great deal of work has been happening behind the scenes. Some of the developments at London Royal Docks involve wider stakeholders, which means we’re not able to share detail publicly at this stage.
It’s important to say that conversations around the long-term future of our presence at the docks were already underway prior to the loss of the pontoon. What happened has accelerated that process, bringing forward plans and discussions that were always intended to strengthen and secure our position here.
Our focus is firmly on delivering a long-term, sustainable solution. While there may be options that could see a temporary return to the water sooner, we are intentionally prioritising plans that properly cement our place at this venue for years to come. That requires careful planning, collaboration and patience. We believe this is the right approach for our community and for the longevity of Love Open Water.
Our intention is to reopen for the summer season, and possibly sooner. However, until plans are fully confirmed, we aren’t in a position to commit to a specific date. As soon as we are able to share something concrete, you will hear it from us first.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Justin for the enormous amount of work he has put in during the initial salvage operation and the subsequent clean-up and sorting of salvageable equipment. Also, to Tamsin, Nick and Katie for their ongoing support during the clean-up.
Thank you again for your patience whilst the team continue to work on the logistics for re-opening.
