Wetsuits are not mandatory at Love Open Water venues.
If you do not have experience swimming 'skins' (wearing only a costume to swim outdoors), we do recommend starting off in a neoprene wetsuit or spending a very short amount of time in the water until you acclimatise.
As a helpful benchmark, your cold water tap at home is between 12-17 degrees which is the main temperature range at our venues in the spring/summer. It only takes a drop in core body temperature of two degrees for hypothermia to kick in so even on a sunny day you are still at risk.
** Wetsuits are not allowed to be worn if the water temperature is above 24 degrees
